How Hypnosis can help Except by certain reflexes, we do not react directly upon our world. Instead we take the information of our senses and build models of our world to which we respond. At first sight this may seem a nitpicking distinction, but the power of this distinction is revealed by users of hypnosis who undergo surgery, dental work, or childbirth without fear or pain. It is also the means for untangling difficult personal and relational problems. The models we build are formed as blueprints or paradigms. We do not hold them just intellectually, but also non-intellectually as analogues in our bodies, where in part they form our intuitions and instincts. The deeply relaxed states of hypnosis are ideal for engaging lateral thinking and re-evaluating the worth of your paradigms,presuppositions and values. This enables you to rebuild your world afresh, by modifying your existing blueprints and creating brand new ones. While it is true that this rebuilding happens in normal sleep, a skilled hypnotic practitioner can act as your guide, reminding you to address a specific issue. and doing so in states of consciousness not normally afforded by sleep. The result being remarkable and appropriate improvements to your life. |

The Hypnosis Experience Would you rather have a delicious meal in your favorite place or hear someone else tell you about their meal? I seek to create stimulating individual hypnotic sessions for each of my clients. To discover your experience you will simply have to do it yourself. |

Please allow an hour and a half for the first visit (other sessions usually last about an hour). Some of this time will be for taking a history and discovering what outcomes you want from the hypnotic session(s). When you are comfortable and ready for it, I will guide you into hypnosis. As part of the protocol I use, you will be reminded to "break state" (come out of hypnosis) and tell me if you believe that I have offered something inappropriate. Thus, just like watching a film, you can leave the cinema at any time. |

For Your Benefit You will get the most from your sessions if you have some physical reserves (you are not exhausted) and if you do not have a pressing need to be somewhere immediately after the session. |

Safety If any of the following applies to you then you need to consult a clinical hypnotherapist rather than myself:
Clients are reminded not to review the hypnotic session or to play hypnotic material (CD's etc) whilst driving or operating machinery. If you feel dreamy after a session, it is better to go for a walk rather than hop into your car. Normally, I will remind you of this during the session and will encorporate suitable safety suggestions as part of the hypnotic protocol. |

Confidentiality Your communication with me is entirely confidential and any computerised record is stored in a manner compatible with the Data Protection Act. I have a duty of care to inform the appropriate body only if you pose a danger to yourself or others.
